Tim Gilpin

About Tim

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Tim Gilpin is an attorney who believes in serving his community. After losing his father at just 11 years old, Tim worked his way through college and law school, attending George Washington University before moving on to the University of Tulsa Law School.

Tim began practicing law in 1986 after graduation. He worked for several Tulsa law firms, putting together settlements and trying personal injury and business cases from both sides of the docket before moving on to proudly serve in the Oklahoma state Attorney General’s office under then-Attorney General Robert Henry as an Assistant Attorney General. In 1991, he returned home to Tulsa to open his own practice helping Oklahomans with wrongful termination, workplace harassment, discrimination, personal injury, and more.

Engagement, Advocacy, and Justice

As a Tulsa local with two adult children who graduated from Tulsa Public Schools, Tim is committed to remaining active in community and state civic affairs and has served on many civic boards and committees. Under the appointment of Governor Brad Henry and approval by the state Senate, Tim proudly served on the Oklahoma State Board of Education from 2005 through 2011, where he championed education funding and competitive education policies while fighting against education cuts. In 2019, Tim was nominated as the 2018 Democratic nominee for Congress (OK-1).

Tim is also a long-term active member of Trinity Episcopal Church located in downtown Tulsa, where he has served as an Usher, Lector, and Vestry member. Other civic boards and commissions Tim has served on include the Mayor’s Commission on Concerns of the Disabled, the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa (AHHA) Board, the Public Policy Committee of the Mental Health Association in Tulsa, the Southeast Tulsa Jaycees, the Tulsa Rotary Club, the United Way Investment Panel, Tulsa County Bar Association Professional Responsibility Committee, the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, and Street School.
